Why This App Exists
In 2021, my dad went on hospice.
Like many families, we believed hospice meant there would be a nurse there most of the time helping care for him. Instead, a nurse came to the house about once a week.
The rest of the responsibility fell on our family.
My siblings and I took turns caring for my dad. Managing medications quickly became one of the hardest parts. We had to track multiple medications, different doses, and specific times they had to be given throughout the day and night.
So we created a system the only way we knew how. We wrote everything down on paper.
Every medication. Every dosage. Every time it needed to be given. Then whoever was caring for him would check it off after giving it.
But caregiving was not just one person. It was siblings, family members, and friends helping when they could. Keeping everyone on the same page was exhausting. And we were already under immense stress watching someone we loved slowly slip away.
Then a year later, we went through the same experience again. This time with my mother.
Once again we were managing medications, writing schedules, checking boxes, and trying to make sure nothing was missed.
That experience made something very clear.
Families need a simple way to coordinate care together.
That is why Nana's Care Team was created.
Most caregiving does not happen in hospitals. It happens at home. In living rooms. In bedrooms. Around kitchen tables. It happens when siblings take turns staying overnight. When friends step in to help. When someone sets alarms all night to make sure medications are given on time.
Nana's Care Team was built for those families. Because caring for someone you love should never feel like you are trying to manage a medical chart with a notebook and a pen.
